Christopher O’Connor

Christopher O’Connor, Digital Media Technician at University of of Southampton ( Winchester School of Art), and researcher for the Global Smart Lab, specialising in VR technologies, web development and digital design. With a strong commitment to advancing educational practices, he teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate students and has developed a collaborative teaching framework rooted in problem-based learning, published by Bloomsbury Academic.

In his research, Chris focuses on promoting inclusivity through online technologies, working to expand access to higher education for underrepresented groups. His current project involves designing and implementing a virtual campus to support educational initiatives.

Chris also actively explores Virtual Reality (VR), Mixed Reality (MR), and Extended Reality (XR) technologies to enrich teaching and research in higher education. These immersive tools play a central role in his efforts to create transformative learning experiences.
